Life guarding is a serious and rewarding job. Jungle Jim's lifeguards are Ellis & Associates certified. Ellis & Associates are the leader in water park safety. All Jungle Jim's lifeguards are trained and certified in water rescue, First aid, CPR, and AED.

Jungle Jim's will be offering two types of lifeguard certification classes through Ellis and Associates. New applicants are required to take a three day lifeguarding course which is taught on site at Jungle Jim's. All new lifeguards must attend class every day for the class that they choose, so choose early to ensure there will be no schedule conflictions!

Classroom Certification

Cost of the lifeguard class is $125 for initial certification or $105 for re-certification (cost inclues hip pack with rescue masks). The lifeguard course is a 3-day class for those who were not certified last year. Prices subject to change. Class dates and times are as follows: PAYMENT IS DUE BY THE FIRST CLASS!  YOU MUST BE AN EMPLOYEE OF JUNGLE JIM'S TO SIGN UP FOR A CLASS!

***Please pay close attention to the class that you have signed up for.

*Students in these classes are required to attend a two hour in-service at Jungle Jim's on a later date.

You must be able to attend all three dates in the group. The first evening of class will be classroom type material. The following two days will be split into pool time and classroom time. Bring a swimsuit, towel and possibly a change of clothes, as well as a packed lunch or money to purchase lunch. At this time of year, our facility does not serve food, so students who want to buy lunch must be able to drive themselves in order to get it. In order to successfully complete the class, hands-on knowledge of first aid, CPR, AED and water rescue must be demonstrated. A written test must also be passed. *All new lifeguards taking one of the first four classes must complete a two hour on site in-service training before being licensed. During these classes, our pools have not yet been filled, so we go to the Rehoboth YMCA for water training. In order to become more familiar with the facility and compete all 22 hours of required training time, new lifeguards must attend this in-service or they will not be allowed to work. However, remember that if you choose to wait to take the course until June, you will not be able to work until after those dates! Cash or a check (made payable to Jungle Jim's) is due on the first day of class.
