Lifeguard Training!

Life guarding is a serious and rewarding job. Jungle Jim's lifeguards are Ellis & Associates certified. Ellis & Associates are the leader in water park safety. All Jungle Jim's lifeguards are trained and certified in water rescue, First aid, CPR, and AED.

Jungle Jim's will be offering two types of lifeguard certification classes through Ellis and Associates.  Applicants may choose from a 3-day class split into classroom and pool time or an online lifeguard class, but still must attend days 2 and 3 of a scheduled course..

Classroom Certification

Cost of the lifeguard class is $110 for initial certification or $90 for re-certification. The classroom book is $35 and must be purchased if you do not already own a copy. The lifeguard course is a 3-day class. Class dates and times are as follows:

You must be able to attend all three dates in the group.  The first evening of class will be classroom type material.  The following two days will be split into pool time and classroom time.  Bring a swimsuit, towel and possibly a change of clothes.  In order to successfully complete the class, hands-on knowledge of first aid, CPR, AED and water rescue must be demonstrated.  A written test must also be passed.  *All new lifeguards must complete a three hour on site in-service training before being licensed. Cash or a check (made payable to Jungle Jim's) is due by the last day of class.

Online Certification

Jungle Jim's is now offering an online lifeguard course in order to cut down on classroom time and class size. This course is available to anyone interested in becoming a lifeguard and has access to a computer. The online course is very thorough and interactive. It is great for returning guards as well as those new to lifeguarding, as participants are able to work at their own pace. In order to sign up for the online lifeguard course:

1. Fill out a Jungle Jim's application (must be at least 15-years old to lifeguard)
2. Mail or drop off money or a check (made payable to Jungle Jim's) for $35.00. This payment is NON-REFUNDABLE as the pass codes for the course are prepaid and may not be reissued. *If you are not certain about becoming a lifeguard, sign up for a classroom course instead to find out if lifeguarding is really for you.
3. Jungle Jim's will issue you a pass code to access the online course.
4. After completing the online course, contact Jungle Jim's to find out about testing dates and times.
5. Complete practical testing of First Aid, CPR, AED and Water Rescue as well as a Jungle Jim's written test.
6. Purchase lifeguard license ($110 + book for first-time lifeguards, $90 for renewals)
7. Begin working at Jungle Jim's!

General Certification Information

The prerequisites for shallow water life guarding are:

• *Be at least 15 years of age
• *Be able to swim 50-yards
• *Be able to retrive a 10-pound brick from the bottom of the pool and bring it to the surface
• *Swimg a distance of 10 feet underwater

Ellis and Associates is the only type of certification we accept at our facility. Those who already have current Ellis certification may work in our water park upon in-service training. For more information about Ellis and Associates, visit their website at www.jellis.com.
